An Update on the Ashland Fire Department:
Since the devistating fire in Jan '10, The Ashland Fire department has limped
along but remained solid, and as of now, have almost completely restored their firefighting fleet.
Immediately following the fire, the Catskill Fire Department graciously loaned Ashland Engine 311, a 1993 Peterbuilt/Pierce.
A donated Rescue Truck form the Onondaga Indian Reservation filled that void. Department members worked feverously to restore
the mini, M 1-6, and that now is in service. Round Top FD, when their new Engine arrived, donated their 1979 Ford/Grumman
ETA and that too, is available.
Then, the week of Aug 30, 2010, their new E 1-6, arrived,
a 2010 IH/Darley engine. 1500 gpm Darley pump/ 1250 water/ and 40 gallons foam cell, for the Darley Auto CAFS system.
Work continues on shoring up other needs and plans for the replacement fire station are almost completed.
Additionally:
Work on the
new Fire Station/Town Hall is moving along. The shell is up and the interior work should begin soon.
Brush Unit M 1-3, damaged in the fire, has been completely overhauled and re-furbed. Engine 1-6, which sustained
heavy damage, will be ressurected. It currently is being re-furbed at the local Darley Dealer. This should be in service
late fall/early winter.
Check out the Ashland FD page for current photos of apparatus and building.
